Politically Correct or Hate?!

When did we become so afraid of offending someone? Todays society is so hell bent on making everyday speech so sterile, it loses all meaning. Not only that, but people get offended for no particular reason.

Everyday, freedoms are questioned. They are questioned, and thought about by politicians, who think they are making the right choice for society. They are questioned by business owners, to protect their business. They are questioned by the people, who want answers.

I see posts on Facebook all the time, guns, marriage, war, holidays... Its sad that such petty things allow so many undies to bunch. Here are a few that make me question the direction society is headed.

Straight Pride.
Gay pride is nothing new. Parades and gatherings have been happening for many many years. The object of Gay Pride is to show people that we are who we are. We are here, we are queer, and we arent leaving. But, this offends the straight people. Straight people have always been accepted in public. They have always had the right to marry. They have always had the right to shop where they want, go out in public and feel safe. Gays, on the other hand just received their right to marry, however, many are discriminated against for shopping at a certain store, beaten when out in public, shouted at, and threatened when in public.

Heterosexuals have had ZERO hurdles to overcome. Homosexuals, have MANY! It isnt easy being a gay man, it frighteningly hard.

Guns.
America was founded on 10 basic principles that cannot be taken away. One of those rights is the right to bear arms. Everyday I see post about "protect the second amendment," but what people dont know it is DAMN hard to change an amendment.

In case you forgot elementary social studies, it takes 2/3 House, 2/3 Senate, or a constitutional convention called for by 2/3 of the State legislatures. Then, once those requirements are met, the constitution can be changed.

So, relax, the government cannot "take" your precious guns away!

This is just a few examples. There are more, a lot more, and this blog will be continued.

Car Washes

Car washes. They can be found in almost every town, big or small. The can be completely automatic, self serve, or have people washing as your car travels via conveyor. These things aren't new. In fact they they have been around for a LONG time. In my 11 years behind the wheel, I have seen my share of bad washes, and some very good washes. However, one doesnt truly know anything until youhave either worked at one, or worked at a gas station.

I currently work at a Holiday Stationstore. We have both an automatic and a self serve. Until know I thought even the brain dead could operate these washes, but I now know that isnt the case. SO, here is a guide to car washes(well atleast ours!)

Automatic washes:

These are a marvel of the quick auto detail world. You purchase a code, and drive in. Three minutes later you have a clean car. These can either be with or without brushes. A brush free or touchless system relies on high pressure water to clean your car, while the other uses brushes. They both work on the same basic principals.

Before entering the wash, please remove any garbage in the box of your truck. It is uncool and douche baggy to have your trash blow about the wash! We're not your maids, take care of your own trash. Also, check your car for pre existing damage. We arent responsible for the wash taking off your duck tapped bumper.

1) Purchase a code and enter it into the kiosk.
Each wash has multiple levels of washing. Every thing from a basic which will soap, rinse and dry, to the super duper which washes, scrubs your wheels, bug sprays, waxes... you get the picture.

2) Enter the wash.
Once your code is accepted youll see a green arrow pointing up. This means you may enter the wash. Drive forward SLOWLY!!! Once the nose of your car has reached almost the center of the wash, you will see a RED X. This means STOP and place your vehicle in PARK. If you had gone too far ahead, you will see a green arrow pointing down. This means REVERSE! Please back up until you see a red X!

3) Enjoy the wash.
If at anytime you notice you forgot something, LET IT BE! An antenna is WAY cheaper than repairing your door, and the wash. Stay put in your vehicle until the wash had ended.

4) Exit the wash.
Once the wash has ended, proceed to the dryer. Drive SLOWLY once again to allow the dryer to blow dry your car. You have almost 3 minutes to use the dryer. Savor the moment.

5) Visit the detailing area.
Depending on the wash, there will be a detailing area. This area will have vacuums and towels. In the case of my Holiday, the towels are located inside the self serve wash right by the vacuums. It is not cool for you to use all the towels located at the gas pumps. We are watching. And we are judging.

Automatic washes are not perfect. You may have some soap and bugs left on your car. This is why you pretreat your car prior to washing. Also, this is NOT what window washers are for. You WILL scratch your paint!

Self serves are pretty self explanatory. You driver in, park, deposit coins, and wash your car.

Pointers:
1) If you go mudding with your truck, and leave enough dirt in the wash bay to plant a field, you are an ASS HOLE! At least have the courtesy to spray it down the drain!

2) If you have a truck, and want to clean out your box, please dont leave your trash on the bay floor, also please wash the leaves down the drain.

3) The trash recepticles are there for your convenience, not for you to fill up because you are to lazy to pay your trash bill! Please respect the trash!

People dont like to use an dirty wash. We arent your maids and arent paid to clean up after you! Please do us and the other patrons of our wash a solid, and leave it how you found it.

Thank you for following along. I hope this will enlighten you to be a better person, not for the sake of the store, but for your fellow patrons who use our facilities.

Someone find me an escape pod...

Last fall I read an article in the Star Tribune about a little girl who, while under the care of her grandmother ingested a Tide Pod. The result was this little girl being sent to the hospital with some severe injuries.

For those unenlightened, this is a Tide Pod:

Tide Pods are little packets of detergent and fabric softener that you add to your laundry machine. They take the hassle out of measuring your detergent and softener.

In the wake of this accident the grandmother spoke out, upset over the whole situation, calling for changes in the way these pods look. This was seen by a Minnesota congresswoman, who wrote up some letter/bill/thing, that was submitted to the Consumer Products Safety Commission, saying that these pods look to much like candy and therefore pose a risk for children and must be made to look less appetizing/appealing to children.

This has spawned many groups and caused much butt hurt. Take this for example:

Sure, it looks appealing, but that's why you store it in a locked cabinet!

Somehow this has become Tides' fault and something Tide must fix.

Wait, what? I am sorry, but somehow this is Tides' fault that this grandmother wasnt watching her grandchild?

NO! This is 100% grandmas' fault.

What ever happened to locking your chemicals in a cupboard? Or placing them on shelving out of the reach of children? Why should Tide be responsible for your child?

Look. Companies should be responsible for their products, I agree, however they shouldnt be held responsible for you, your child, your dog... That is why there is a warning on the back saying: KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN!  This saying isnt new. It has been around for many years.

So, how about, instead of going after big business, you take some time to put your chemicals up, or in locked cabinets, and be a parent. Watch your kids. Punish them for doing something wrong. Take some damn responsibility for your kids. This isnt Tides fault, its yours. Deal with it.

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog about my personal annoyances and hatreds with today's world.

Everyday I like to read the paper and browse facebook. I often find articles I agree with, and I often find articles and posts I disagree with... then there are those that make me hate life and those who run our planet!

So, follow me on my little escapade, add your thoughts, and lets try to make some sense out of the madness!
